SunZia Southwest Transmission Project Moves Ahead

Interior Department publishes approval of the project’s management plan.

The Bureau of Land Management announced that the next step of progression for the SunZia Southwest Transmission Project has been approved. After two years of reviewing the routes proposed for the next section of the transmission line, the bureau published the Record of Decision approving their review. This is one of the final steps required for the 500-kilovolt, 520-mile transmission line, that will transport energy from New Mexico to Arizona and California, to officially break ground.

“The Department of the Interior is committed to expanding clean energy development to address climate change, enhance America’s energy security, and provide for good-paying union jobs,” said Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary Laura Daniel-Davis of the Office of Land and Minerals Management. “Through robust engagement with states, cities, and Tribes, we are proud of the part we play in the all-of-government efforts to diversify the nation’s renewable energy portfolio while at the same time combatting climate change and investing in communities.”

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For the principal deputy assistant secretary as she oversees the Land and Minerals Management office.
  • For prudence for Interior Secretary Haaland as she collaborates on energy projects.
  • For Interior Department officials as they review projects that impact public lands.
